Embellishing the Monoprints

I had the fantastic idea to use the mono prints from my last post as trades for Art and Soul. The good ones anyway!! Out of 150 I came up with 60 that are good enough to Represent. Ya feel me?? teehee. 10 I am in love with and can't part with, and the remaining 50 I will take with me to trade. I am having a ball embellishing and "filling them out" using contrasting colors, over stamping, gel pens and what not. I am actually going to give them to each classmate in Misty's class and if there are any left over, I'll trade them out. I am hoping Misty will not have more than 50 artists in the class! This is a gonzo trip for me, driving down Friday, Misty's Saturday and Sunday class with Vendor night in between and home on Monday.

These are ready to go. I'm going to present these as tip-ins for altered books or journals. I'm going to write a little intro note and enclose with my bizness card which I am waiting for Moo.com to deliver post haste. I'll post more prints as I finish them, nothing like taking it down to the wire, no?? I've been in a serious Funk and NOT the good kind of Gettin' Down With My Bad Self Kind of FUNK, since the crash and burn of my love life. I guess I was absent the day they taught Getting Along With Others. sigh. xoSusan

Medieval Trial and Error Journal

Remember when I posted about the cardboard dividers in the cases of cat food I buy? I posted about gesso'ing and painting them. Here are a couple pics:


Okay, now you remember! I use these pages to play and practice techniques, I'm not looking to create "works of Art" here. teehee, as if. I have had a very stressful couple of weeks with my health, leaking roof, full scale ANT attack, fender bender and all the repairs and insurance BS that entails, and I created a journal page that reflected my mood. Be afraid, be VERY afraid. teehee. I started with the gesso'd cardboard that I painted with stencils and glimmer mists:
I then tried and botched 2 transfers using the ink jet image printed on Apollo 7039 transparency and Golden's Soft Gel Medium technique. Venus isn't too bad, but she is very light. Either not enough gel medium or I didn't burnish enough, or I didn't wait long enough before lifting the transparency. The middle blob was definitely too much gel medium.

So in an effort to fix this mess, and because I was in the mood, finally to create, OH WAIT, there goes my EYE TWITCH!! Have you ever gotten that?? My right eye lid twitches like MAD!! I look like a crazed winker! Being an EYE CARE Professional, I can tell you for sure that if your eye lid TWITCHES like CRAZY you are STRESSED OUT Beyond Belief and it is imperative that you book a cruise immediately. teehee. Okay, back to reality.......I used Goldens Light Molding Paste thru a stencil and let it dry overnight. I used Caran D'ache sticks to color the paste. Then I outlined and highlighted areas with a charcoal pencil. I went over Venus with my lastest discovery/addiction, courtesy of Teesha Moore's site in which she talks about journaling, a Faber Castell Pitt brush pen. This baby writes over anything. It wrote over the waxy/oily Caran D'ache and the gel medium blobs. Oh yeah, I'm in love. The very Dark and Depressing Poem, courtesy of my Dark and Depressing Mind Set, is taken from, any guesses here,???? you guessed it "Wuthering Heights".

I think I like the page better before I did a damn thing too it. I hate when that happens. teehee. xoSusan

Lithium, Killers and Enchantment

Three new ATC's for your perusal. The first one is from Nirvana's "Lithium" song.


Bleached Stamped background. Rubber stamp on white cardstock. Dymo words. Hand Rubber stamps. I've pulled out the rubber stamps, cuz I can't do TRANSFERS right now. See previous posts for bitching and complaining about Apollo discontinuing the best transparencies ever the 7031S. They waited until I mastered the technique to give me the big F U. oh well, I digress.

Next one is my attempt at a Zetti. Teesha Moore is Zetti Queen. Background is my handmade paper and altered Mary Engelbreits stickers, believe it or not, from my old scrapbooking days. Skirt is more of my handmade paper.

The words are from The Killers song "Human". I'm on my knees looking for the answer too.

And the last one is on a scrapbook and torn napkin substrate. Vintage photo, Artchix transparency, gold leafing. Quote is taken from a novel, but I can't remember where I got it!!!
