Autumn in New York
I'm going by train, and cab, lugging a tool kit. I'll be the one scared and lost but determined. Never done the train alone, NEVER hailed a cab, Never been to NYC alone. This is a real growth experience for me on MANY levels, before I even get to the ART! Lynne is also doing a Saturday workshop, but I have to work, and anyway couldn't afford to do both. Where is that damn Homestead Rebate anyway??? Part of the supply list is of course, medieval images. I have been having the best time searching for copyright free images and found some great ones. Some of my sources for these images are Dover, Karen's Whimsy, The New York Public Digital Library. Always check the copyright info before using ANY images found on line (or anywhere else for that matter) in your own Art, especially if your intention is to sell the work. If you are interested in this subject please join the "Stop Art Piracy Campaign" group on flickr. The members do not have all the answers, we are not on a witch hunt, we are a group interested in sharing information and keeping ourselves up to date on copyright issues. So that said, here are a few Medieval Images to share with you:
OOPS!!!! How did that get there??? I know all you lovely ladies who have commented think Javier is looking at YOU, however I know for a fact He Lova Me!!!! now back to the topic at hand:
Hope you enjoyed this blast from the Medieval Past. I'm sure I'll be posting more photos as I get more prepared for class. Now I'm off to set up my Brand Spanking New Epson C88 printer!!! Guess what, It's been Discontinued.....what is it with Me and Discontinued Products??? wait, I don't think I want to know. Can you blame me for hoarding my favorite lipstick now??? I think not. I think not. xoSusan

Aw Shucks......
Thank you Marsha, right back at ya!!!
And in the Spirit of Friendship, Sisterhood, Sharing and Caring, I am passing it on to ALL the gals in my blogroll!!! You all Rock!! Special Honors, however, go to PaulaBeth from BarnOwl Studio. Beth has been a very generous friend to share her experiences and life lessons with me. Did you ever have a friend that with just a word or two, pulls your head out of your hiney, and makes you go, OH DUH!!! Well, that's Beth!! Here are the first 2 of 3 ATC's that are for Beth and Inspired by Her Words:
I still haven't purchased an Epson printer compatable with doing alcohol transfers and Apollo 7039. In a way that is a good thing, because I am having a great time playing with my stamps. You can't tell by the scan, but on "Letting Go", the bird body and tail is not attached to the background. The headpiece is a scan of vintage marcasite jewelry that I pimped up with embossing powder. The Backgrounds on both ATC's are my hand painted papers. "Life Is In Session" also has scrapbook paper, mica and an image from my Italian playing cards. Now, I'm off to finish the third one in this series.....xoSusan

It's A Secret
Anyhoo, I spent a lot of time and care on this one because it is a gift for a very special Artist Friend. I can't tell you who, yet, cuz I haven't mailed it to her yet. Can you guess who? This one uses my own handmade painted background, part of a rubber stamp, german scrap, Marvy markers, and the words are from one of those magnetic poetry kits. They are great, if you ever see one at a yard sale, snap it up. The words are easy to cut down with tin snips.
I have become enamoured of my rubber stamps again. They fell by the wayside with the advent of Purell Transfers. I'm not using that technique until I buy a new Epson printer that is Compatable with the Apollo 7039 and Purell. Huge HUGS and SHOUTS go out to Andre for giving me this INVALUABLE information. He and I are both COMICALLY Addicted to transfers. Here's another dirty little secret, I have a hard time thinking outside the box. I just started "experimenting" with stamps, using portions, cutting them up and well, altering the results. The advent of a new addiction I think......xoSusan

Angel, Evil and a 70's Porn Star
Scrapbook paper over baseball card. Gel medium and transparency transfer on the bottom, Purell and transparency transfer of angel. Bleached stamped paper hearts. Inked edges. Dymo words are from Green Day's song "She" . The next one I don't really like that much, oh well. Anticipate Evil:
Bleached stamped paper over baseball card, stamps, charcoal pencil, oil crayons, vintage book words, Purell and transparency transfer. Last but certainly not least, I am revisiting my 70's Porn Stars, with Silky Sleeves:
Origami paper over baseball card, (thanks Alli!!!) Scrapbook sticker embellishment, 70's Porn Star image, words by Mick Jagger's song "Some Girls."One of my favorite albums of all time. I'm off to pack the Stiletto's.....I hope you have as much fun as I will......xoSusan
