More PhlyingPhren

This PhlyingPhren has a baseball card substrate. I went to the store 5 Below and got an obnoxious amount of cards, like 500, I think, I'm too lazy to get up and go look, for about 9.99. Philosophically, I believe the price should have been under 5 bucks, but the oft pierced and huge ear holed cashier hated me and I wasn't even gonna joke with him. Transparencies, scrapbook paper, ink, paper clip, brads, chalk pencil, pages from old Encyclopedia. This one has all the same stuff with the addition of a cool piece of chinese? ephemera received in a trade from another artist. I have received the most interesting things in trades. Often, I find the perfect embellishment in these generous goody bags!

The inspiration for these ATC's is the song, One Day I'll Fly Away, written by Joe Sample and Will Jennings. Nicole Kidman sang it in Moulin Rouge. But if you want to hear the BLUESY Most AWESOME rendition here is Randy Crawford sing it here.

One Day I'll FLy Away

I make it alone
When love is gone
Still you made your mark
Here in my heart

One day I'll fly away
Leave your love to yesterday
What more can your love do for me
When will love be through with me

I follow the night
Can't stand the light
When will I begin
My life again

One Day I'll fly away
Leave your love to yesterday
What more can your love do for me
When will love be through with me
Why live life from dream to dream
And dread the day that dreaming ends

One day I'll fly away leave your love to yesterday
What more can your love do for me
When will love be through with me
Why live life from dream to dream
And dread the day that dreaming ends

One day i'll fly away, fly away, fly away (repeat to fade)

Enjoy. xoSusan

Art Therapy

Home from work today with a sick teenager. Worked on some ATC's that express how I've been feeling. Yeah, Art Heals. Just not Fast Enough. Here Goes:

I really like the colors of this one. I used Glaze pens for the stamens in the flowers and my Inkssentials white opaque pen for outlines. IMHO the Inkssentials pen is WAY superior to the Uniball Signo white opaque pen. Portfolio oil based crayons for color. I love my PhrenMen!

Next one:

This one has Lumiere paint on edges of paste paper that I created in Albie Smith's class at Art and Soul. Holy Run On Sentence Batman!! I really love the texture in the paper and tried to mirror it with the transp/alcohol shell transfer on her skin.

Art and Soul Update: I will not be attending. I was forced to cancel due to the shitty economy. I can't talk about that anymore, I will lose it completely. I did treat myself to LK Ludwig's Nature Journals book because I can't go to her workshop. I'm too lazy to link tonight. Google LK. You won't be sorry. Moving on....

This one speaks for itself. The words are inspired by a Snow Patrol song. Love that webbing spray.

Beauty, Men and Dick

Got your attention didn't I? Tonight I played with ATC's. The first quote is from Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing". I'm digging the Krylon Gold Spray Webbing. I can't find any other colors at Micheals or AC Moore. I'd love to get my hands on black. The hat is from a collage sheet from Artchix.

Next up is more webbing and a transparency/alcohol transfer of a shell on the womans face. You can't tell from the scan, but there is a lot of Stickles glitter glue going on in this one.

And tonights Grand Finale! One of the 70's Porn Stars dropped by and became the inspiration for this:

Some red German Scrap and Portfolio Oil Crayons color the wife beater on the porn star. The background is a photo I took at Longwood Gardens last year. Looking forward to this years visit with my sister and parents this Sunday. It's a tradition. Wishing you all the best traditions. xo

Getting Back in The Game

Taking this whole break up thing an hour at a time. I'm OK, then I get sucker punched by a song or a sweet or sexy memory. I tried to keep really busy. I spent the day at the UPS store, shopped at Tuesday Mornings, (a cool designer type discount store) grocery store, bank, taking my daughter to the salon, and the veterinarian. My kitty, Buddy Guy, was neutered today. Poor confused boy was humping my 9 year old declawed Cat, PT Barnum. Declawed or not, BG was about to lose an eye if he kept up with the unwanted attention to PT's nether regions. I also did some gift wrapping, banking online and planning our trip to visit Grace and Tori in Adamstown tomorrow. After the 2 hour drive, we will antique, eat and laugh our asses off! Our teenager's will go off and talk about how mortifying we are to be around.
Obviously my mind set has influenced these ATC's I made tonight. Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid.

This exhausted girl is hitting the sack. Wonderful Sunday to you.

More Yankees and One More PhrenMen

I'm a little stuck on my Yankee's collage. I had an idea about covering Lou's #4 with part of his speech from his last day as a Yankee. First I painted and sanded the stencil.
Printed the words, in a variety of fonts to add interest, on tissue. Glued the tissue to the stencil and did several washes of paint over all.
I like the transparency of the cutout.
I can't wait to use the deli paper under the stencil in another project!
Here is placement for the #4. I hate, hate, hate that spot were the 4 hits Lou's shoulder. I need something else there but am temporarily out of ideas. Ideas anyone?????

Here is the back side of my latest PhrenMen ATC. This series of ATC's is done on left over paste paper I made in Albie Smith's classes.

And here is "Satisfies Low Expectations" . I finished this last night. Ironically I was accused of this very thing tonight. Isn't that bizarre??

I think the corners are a cool touch. Bribe me and I will let you know where I got them. insert evil laugh here.

Phren Men

Having a blast doing an ATC series with altered ancestors and a phrenology stamp. Add some acrylic paint, stamping, embellishing and I'm addicted.

Here are my PhrenMen so far:

OOOOHHH I love them. Gonna do more......
