MORE ANTI-VALENTINES 2011

Broken At Love
Anti-Valentine

This was so fun to make!! I adhered a vintage pic of Rene Lacoste taken from Vogue magazine
onto an image of a famous painting that I am too lazy to find the info on, spray inks, purell transfers,
transparency image, stabilo pencils, white gel pen, rub-ons.
"Broken at Love" is a real tennis term also, which I think is like, super cool, dude.

ANTI-VALENTINES 2011

First Batch!!

 "The Horror"
is a Purell transfer
using Apollo 7039 transparency
and an ink-jet printer. ATC substrate
is Illustration board which takes the transfer like a dream.I added a little color on the lady's face with my new Pan Pastels and pencil. I messed up the other side of the ATC so I cut around it and mounted it on top of a piece of last years homemade Anti-V paper, "Blood Streaked". cool, right?

"Extreme Measures" also uses the Illustration
board/purell/ink-jet transfer recipe. Pan pastels for color and a rub-on and eyelet. The dymo words do not want to stick to the Pan Pastels. Crap with a Capital C. I love my Dymo.

"Louise" has as a substrate altered baby wipe adhered to a baseball card. The wipe is altered with watered down acrylic paints and alcohol inks. Transparency pic of Louise glued down (actually a leftover transp from a failed transfer), a bit of sequin waste and some silly brads and flowers as embellishment. And as you can see the damn words are lifting here too.
More to come.....

Mixed Bag

Spinning Planets:

My handmade paste paper, stamping, Purell transfer from transparency on top of vintage cabinet card image.

Duty and Desire:

Loneliness and Lust:
Both ATC's use Michelle Ward's Rubber Stamp Sheet "Hot Topic" :

Michelle was generous enough to donate the proceeds from the sale of this half sheet of rubber as a fundraiser for blogger and Artist, Paula, who lost her home in a fire. Paula's blog is forCryEye and she is talented and hilarious. If you don't believe me check out her Happy Thanksgiving Justin Timberlake Style post. Pee first. You've been warned. I have 3 ATC's using these stamps in the works that are not ready to be unveiled yet. I'm thinking by Sunday, latest, they'll be ready for show and tell. That is, as long as my gifts are done. Then I'm allowed to play. But only after my chores are done. teehee. xoSusan

Creature ATC

In the spirit of Halloween, here is a creature some of you may recognize, teehee.
Creature From The Man Lagoon ATC:
Watercolor paper painted with acrylics, cabinet card, crappy apollo7039/purell transfer, portfolio water soluble oil pastels. What I thought was a Crappy transfer works perfectly for this spooky theme. I love the way his eye peeks out. Hope you all have your Creatures Well Trained. teehee. xoSusan

New ATC's

This one is dedicated to my bloggin friend Kathy. She is in the process of setting up her blog. She has a boat load of scanning and designing to do. She is blessed with an in house computer nerd, also known as her husband! I am so looking forward to viewing more of her work. I'll keep you posted. This next one is inspired by the band, Cake. If you haven't checked them out please do. I think I have some of thier songs on my playlist. I just love the singers ironic, talk sing style. The song is called I Want To Love You Madly. The link is to You Tube and there are two songs on it. If you are pressed for time scroll to 2:34 minutes in and I Want To Love You Madly starts. I am not a horns fan, I am a real guitar girl, but the horns really rock in almost every song. Live there are less horns. Just sayin.
Little did I know that this would be my last Purell transfer with my beloved Apollo Transparencies 7031S. It has been tough to find images that work with my bleach stamped ATC backgrounds. I think the pairing of just black and the music lyrics work. She said, with a question in her voice. teehee. xoSusan

More ATC's Inspired by Music

First ATC is surprise, surprise, inspired by Ludo's "Love Me Dead" tune. Both ATC's have collage sheet freebies from Somerset Studio magazine, purell transfers, dymo words, oil pastels and chalks.

The next one is from Weezer's "No One Else":
I don't really stick to one "artistic style" but I guess a big portion of my work uses the same blond man from a cabinet card, transferring something over his face and adding words. I have come to love this man, and the man I use for most of my other cards, who I call Grumpy Guy in my head. My PhrenMen series uses the phrenology stamp and speaks to the "two faced-ness of man". or conflicting emotions in one man etc. I then added transferring shells over faces and now clowns and bones to my repertoire. The Blond Guy is under there. You just have to look real hard to find him. Kind of like real life. xoSusan

Close Up ATC's

Practicing with more Purell transfers. The first 2 are done using an old game board as the substrate, bleached and stamped cardstock, purell transfer from Apollo transparency, dymo word printer thingy. This first one is inspired by Green Day's song, She.

The next one is from a song by Andrew Jackson Jihad called Scenesters. I couldn't find a good link. They remind of my punk rock filled youth. sigh. **Disclaimer**the lyrics below may be offensive to the faint of heart. Hey, I didn't write it, but I wish I had. teehee

Oh my god there's scenesters everywhere

With their hair gel and their vintage t-shirts

Why didn't the shins come to phoenix? And why didn't mirah come to phoenix?

Because the modified is too small

And the marquis is too big

And the complex is rightfully dead

And the hipsters with their snide comments

and aversion to applause

Oh my god hardcore kids everywhere

With their hair gel and their color green

How do they look so good

while their convictions remain so strong?

Because their hair gel that they use

isn't tested on animals

And their swallow tattoos are fucking lame

And cocaine is essentially vegan

And they don't give a fuck anyway

They're so vain, and yes, this song is about them

Oh my god post-hardcore kids everywhere

With their violence and pomposity

So fucking straightedge getting high off of self-righteousness

And praying to a sideways cross

So urban, so infantile, so angry, so young, and so poor

They don't need to use a crutch 'cuz they've got the wheelchair

Oh my god there's assholes everywhere

Pretentious fucking assholes everywhere

Oh my god there's assholes everywhere

Pretentious judgmental assholes everywhere

And the last close up ATC uses a magazine page, glimmer mist, words from a book, cheap crayola watercolor markers:
Hey, I warned you in the title of my blog. Low Brow. Inspired by Pain. But Tempered With Humor. xoSusan

Yet More Shell Seeker ATC's

Here are 2 more ATC's based on my beloved Ludo song, Love Me Dead. I think I may be obsessed.
The first one is scrapbook paper that I inked, purell transfered and beeswaxed. Another virgin foray into wax. Not so good. ah well. I got messy with the embossing powder too. But that just makes him More Hideous, right? There is also 7 Gypsies book tape on the bottom.

The second one is scrapbook paper, ink, chalk, purell transfer, rub-on. I just love this mans face. xoSusan

Yet Another Shell Seeker ATC

Here is another Male Shell Seeker ATC, branching away from the ladies right now. Have 2 more in the works, a series of 9 ATC's based on a White Stripes song, and an ATC to make for Dee. I'm gonna be a busy girl on Sunday! This ATC is yet another one based on Ludo's song, Love Me Dead. This song is ripe with inspiration if you are twisted like myself. Anyhoo, I have like 10 more ATC's to make from this song, stay tuned.

Scrapbook paper on baseball card, vintage guy, Purell transfer, Portfolio oil pastels, chalks and rub ons. I love how there just happened to be an A on the scrapbook paper. Yeah, sometimes it all works out like that. A is for Awful. teehee. xoSusan
